Location
Pomonte has a supermarket, hardware store and cash point. it is a pleasant 10-minute walk from Borgo Antico. There is also a bar, bakery and restaurant/pizzeria nect door to the property.

Beyond Pomonte is Scansano, just 9km away, with many more facilities including a health centre, town hall for administrative business, shops and bars, a couple of banks and restaurants and pizzerie.

The area east of Pomonte is of great scenic beauty, with many historic sites from Etruscan and Roman to picturesque medieval villages. The hot springs and golf course at Saturnia are only 15-minute drive away. There are many signposted walking and cycling trails in the area.

Towards the west, it takes about 30 minutes to drive to the nearest beaches, between Albinia and Talamone. Another 10 minutes to Orbetello, a large town with its lagoon (great for bird-watching), and across the lagoon the stunning Monte Argentario, especially beautiful in Spring when all in bloom. It is also the place to take the ferry to the island of Giglio. Parco dellUccelina is an enormous nature reserve between Orbetello and Grosseto.

The weather allows outdoor, open-air activities from mid-April through to mid-October, the owner has enjoyed meals on the terrace on fine days in early December !

The nearest airports are Rome and Pisa. Driving and rail travelling times are about the same, approx. two hours. There are also railways stations located at Albinia or Orbetello.
